PhD fellow

I am currently doing a PhD project with the title 'Conscription in the 21st century: The construction of the good Danish Soldier', focusing on the contemporary role and training of Danish recruits. The project is based on an ethnographic fieldwork at a number of Danish military barracks (including doing military service myself) as well as an analytical mapping of discourses in the military terrain.

Before starting my PhD, I have worked with subjects such as women’s access to military careers in the Danish military, barriers for gender equality in academia, and study habits among Danish master students.

I have quite a bit of experience with organizing seminars and giving presentations, which stems from a general interest in strengthening the dissemination of my research fields. Additionally, I teach and supervise students enrolled on the undergraduate and MA programs in Ethnology.

Main areas of specialization:

  • Humanistic military research

  • Gender and sexuality research

  • Qualitative methods and ethnographic fieldwork

  • Cultural analysis in the intersection between formal structures and everyday practices
