My two main interests are the study of landscapes and the symbiotic relationship between peoples and landscapes and the study of ceramics as a proxy to understand human lives and activities.

I'm PI on the multi-disciplinary landscape project, Life at the Furnace: copper smelting ecosystems in the north-western Troodos working in Cyprus granted by the Carlsberg Foundation. This project is based on the results of the Troodos Archaeological and Environmental Survey Project and attempts to create new complex narratives about life in the copper-producing landscape on the north side of the Troodos Mountains under Roman rule, routed in contemporary questions about climate and sustainability and inspired by UNESCO's Sustainable Development Goal 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production. How did the people involved deal with the potentially destructive and toxic copper production in which the rulers of Rome had a financial interest? How did local, regional and inter-regional strategies interact in the organization of the various sub-elements of the production such as resources (minerals, charcoal, water), labor (humans and animals, unskilled and specialized), food chains, housing, transport (infrastructure), and administration? Was it possible to create sustainability in the relationship between consumption and production?

Currently, I'm also studying the ceramics from the Roman Bath in Kition involving a group of Master students and young researchers in the publication.
