Evaluation of grant proposals in private and public foundations

UCPH School of Archaeology (SoA) invites (especially early-career) researchers to a workshop on applications to external funding bodies with Professor Marie-Louise Nosch

Marie-Louise Nosch has reviewed applications for numerous funding bodies, including the ERC, Villum, Velux, and Riksbanken, among others, across various fields within both the Humanities and Science.

Marie-Louise is cofounder of the groundbreaking Centre for Textile Research and was director of the centre during its first c. 10 years. She has mentored many ECRs at different levels and has extensive knowledge to share as well as tips, tricks, dos and don’ts for various applications.

Marie-Louise’s own research is extremely broad and interdisciplinary, but has especially focused on the (pre-)history and power of dress. Furthermore, she is a world-leading expert in Linear A (Minoan) and especially Linear B (Mycenaean).

The format and programme of the event will be quite open and dependent on your questions to Marie-Louise. We have prepared a few questions to get the Q&A workshop going and to inspire more questions from you all as well:

  • Can you take us through the process of a review panel’s work (behind the scenes)?
  • How do you read an application?
  • What do you give priority?
  • Does your way of reading an application change depending on the foundation?

It would be great if you would also think about additional questions for Marie-Louise before the workshop to make the best of the time.
