Gabriëlle La Croix is a PhD fellow within the IN THE SAME SEA project. Her research within the project focuses on how slavery was maintained by the island elite across the various islands. She is particularly interested in how networks of families, merchants and government officials in the Lesser Antilles functioned, and how they were used in maintaining the system of slavery.
Gabriëlle holds a bachelor’s degree from University College Roosevelt and a master’s degree from the University of Sheffield. She has previous experience researching transatlantic slavery and has a broader research interest in early modern Caribbean networks, transatlantic slave trade, and privateering.
